SUMMARY: Support the District food service program by providing direction and assistance to elementary school students in the dining area during lunch.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares condiments and utensils for student use at lunch. Restocks condiments and utensils as needed throughout lunch service.
- Organizes students into orderly lines for meal service, and directs students to assigned tables.
- Helps students develop and observe proper dining habits, both in terms of behavior and nutrition.
- Assists students with use of utensils and opening food packaging when needed.
- Organizes students for orderly disposal of food waste, trays, and utensils.
- Organizes groups for orderly dismissal from the lunchroom.
- Circulates among the tables during the meal period to assist children and to resolve any minor problems that arise.
- Calls immediately for an attending teacher or administrator in the event of an argument among students; any incident involving physical confrontation; or any incident that appears to be of more than momentary disruption.
- Helps in the dish room and assists in kitchen when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by principal or cafeteria manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. The job requires frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities. Vision to read printed materials and other monitoring devices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Climate controlled cafeteria setting. Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud for occasional to frequent time periods.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part Time – 180 Days
2.5 hours per day, Monday – Friday in accordance with the District’s academic calendar.
